NFL Playoffs: Conference Title Games Preview + Picks

NFL Playoffs: Conference Title Games Preview + Picks

What a weekend in store for the NFL, as the playoffs continue to get interesting. We got a new comer to the fold. What is more intriguing is that 3 of the 4 teams will be looking to win a super bowl for the 1st time ever. Only the New England Patriots have been the recent winners of a super bowl. How about them Jacksonville Jaguars, being the story of the playoffs thus far? First they barely beat the Buffalo Bills, and then beat up on the Pittsburgh Steelers last weekend. I mean that is a shocker for the ages, we thought it was 1996 all over again. In that season, the Jaguars beat the Bills and the Broncos. Then playing, and losing to the surprising New England Patriots, in the AFC title game that year. We will see how the Jaguars fare this time around. They will need to contain Tom Brady and the rest of the dynamic Patriots.

In the NFC title game, who knew it would be the Eagles and the Vikings? This one could be my toughest pick of the season. I honestly don’t know who to root for? Both teams are starting backup quarterbacks. The Vikings really don’t have a starter, but they have 3 capable quarterbacks that could start on any team. Keenum, Bradford, and Bridgewater are all active for this game. As for the Eagles they have Nick Foles, need I say more? Since taking over for Carson Wentz, Foles has played decently for the most part. I however have yet to see his best game. This would be a good time for one. So this game should be an interesting one.

AFC Championship Game: Patriots over Jaguars

NFC Championship Game: Vikings over Eagles

There you have it, and cannot wait for the super bowl in Minnesota in 2 weeks. I am not doing the pro bowl so don’t even ask this year.

My Divisional Playoff Picks (NFL Playoffs)

My Divisional Playoff Picks (NFL Playoffs)

what a playoff round last week, i thought the wild card games was great. No more Jon Gruden on ESPN, as he is headed to Oakland to coach the Raiders for some unfinished business? Okay, we will see later this year if the Raiders can rebound after going 6-10 in 2017. The Chicago Bears hired Matt Nagy, former Offensive Coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Tennessee Titans made a comeback that made average football fans take notice. Even the Titans head coach Mike Mularkey was still on the hot seat, after all this in getting the Titans in the playoffs. Even after the swoon in December, every Titans fan wanted him gone as soon as the season is over. That will not be happening anytime soon, as the owner came out and declared him back for the 2018 season. Last week in the wild card round, i went 3-1 and that was a shock. The Chiefs let me down in unique fashion. Here is my latest picks in the NFL Playoffs:

Saturday’s Action:

Falcons over Eagles

Patriots over Titans

Sunday’s Action:

Steelers over Jaguars

Saints over Vikings

There you have it, my divisional playoff picks are up. Almost Super Bowl time and hopefully something new will happen. By the way, i will have an announcement in regards for Chris Wood Sports coming soon.

2017 Weekly NFL Picks (week 16)

2017 Weekly NFL Picks (week 16)

Only 2 weeks left of regular season in the NFL. There are still some playoff spots left to be clinched, but only 12 can go to the playoff tournament. The Green Bay Packers has decided to shut down Aaron Rodgers for the rest of the season, in spite of coming back last week in a losing effort to the Carolina Panthers. Then the ultimate dagger (used by Wayne Larrivee)  was getting eliminated from playoff contention the next day after an Falcons victory vs. Tampa Bay. The New England Patriots have got to be the luckiest team in Pro sports. When it look like they were on the verge of losing to the Steelers in Pittsburgh. What do you know, controversy enter into the stadium. My goodness, i feel bad for the Steelers, however the receiver (Jesse James) did not control that ball on the way down the end zone. The Steelers are going to look back and say what if the call was reverse? Jerry Richardson is selling the Carolina Panthers, okay somebody explain to me why is this even a story? Really, this is just full of malarkey on the pending investigation. I mean this story came out of nowhere, and just landed in our sports lap. Let P. Diddy buy the Panthers, besides he has a slim chance of getting the team (just being realistic, not a hater). Marvin Lewis tenure with the Cincinnati Bengals will come to an end after 15 seasons. What a run for Lewis who will be the Jim Mora of his era. Mora like Lewis did not win a playoff game.  Finally, late word broke out of one of the best NFL play by play men of all time. Dick Enberg passed away at the age of 82, don’t know what the cause is at this time. We wish his family a lot of support in this difficult time. As for the picks, last week i went 13-3 in week 15. In the month of December i’m 31-17, and for the 2017 season so far: 140-84. Still trying to get to at least 150 wins on the season. Now for the week 16 picks:

2017 Weekly NFL Picks (Week 15)

2017 Weekly NFL Picks (Week 15)

This 2017 season will definitely be one to remember like a good Clint Eastwood movie. The good, the bad, and the ugly is what the NFL can be described these days. Well the Roger Goodell extension is now official and it’s till 2023, it will be his last run as NFL Commissioner. Jerry Jones is not a happy camper to say the least. The Seahawks-Jaguars game ended ugly with fights to the end of the game. Then a player goes into the stands, and nearly causes a riot. Hope that fan will be prosecuted by the local law enforcement? Josh McCown broke his hand and his season is over. However, is his career over? McCown has played a long time without playing in a playoff game. Let’s hope this is not the end for him. His Jets however have very little playoff hopes. I feel bad for the eagles who lost MVP contender Carson Wentz for the rest of this season. His 2018 season could be delayed pending on recovery time. All the best goes out to Wentz and the Eagles. Well in week 14 I went 7-9 as I had a bad week on my picks. A lot of hit and misses, some games ended very badly for me. In the month of December so far, I’m 18-14 and this season I’m 127-81. Still in line to hit my annual target of 150 wins. Now for the week 15 picks as playoff hopes are on the line for plenty of teams.

2017 Weekly NFL Picks (Week 14)

2017 Weekly NFL Picks (Week 14)

This 2017 NFL season has been a strange one to say the least. I cannot remember this many twists and turns in a season in a long time. The New York Giants clean house, literally with both the GM Jerry Reese and HC Ben McAdoo fired this past Monday. Now Eli Manning has been reinstated as the starting quarterback for now. Geno Smith did not get it done, not a surprise at all. What happens to Davis Webb, who knows at this point. I hope he gets a chance at some point later this season. Roger Goodell finally gets his extension to remain Commissioner of the NFL for another 5 years worth almost 200 millIon dollars. There are plenty of head coaches on the hot seat for sure, and we will be hearing about it for the next several weeks. One more thing, the AFC North division is in fact the most physical among all the teams. No easy games what so ever, all 4 teams play smash mouth football. Last week in week 13, I went 11-5 to start off the month of December. In this 2017 season I’m 120-72. Still have a ways to go to hit my annual goal of 150 wins. Now for the week 14 picks:

Thursday Night:

Saints over Falcons

Early Sunday:

Giants over Cowboys

Bills over Colts

Vikings over Panthers

Bengals over Bears

Texans over 49ers

Lions over Buccaneers

Raiders over Chiefs

Packers over Browns

Jaguars over Seahawks

Keep it lock to Chris Wood Sports as we venture to 2018.

2017 Weekly NFL Picks (Week 13)

2017 Weekly NFL Picks (Week 13)

What a week in the NFL, there has been a lot of stories that made headlines. I had a tough time figuring out my 3 main ones. The Benching of Eli Manning has played out so poorly, i may not cover the Giants this week at all. Why the benching all of a sudden, the Giants want to move on from Manning once the season ends. The Giants is a mess and that is about as nice as i am going to put it. Other news, the suspensions of Micheal Crabtree and Aqib Talib are a joke. First it was a 2 game suspension, but then they appealed and its only 1 game as of now. I wish i was the commissioner, i would have given them the rest of the season off. They fought before and got nothing. Then the Raiders coach Jack Del Rio try the AJ Green example, because he got nothing. It did not work at all, Jack! Just try to save your season. Last week i went 12-4 in week 12, and for the month of November im 39-18. In the 2017 season im 109-67 and now my week 13 picks as the home stretch is coming soon:

Thursday Night

Redskins over Cowboys

Early sunday

Vikings over Falcons

Lions over Ravens

Patriots over Bills

49ers over Bears

Packers over Buccaneers

Jaguars over Colts

Dolphins over Broncos

Chiefs over Jets

Titans over Texans

Late Sunday

Chargers over Browns

Saints over Panthers

Rams over Cardinals

Giants over Raiders

Sunday night

Eagles over Seahawks

Monday night

Steelers over Bengals

There you have it, my weekly picks are up and ya’ll have a good one.

2017 Weekly NFL Picks (week 7)

2017 Weekly NFL Picks (week 7)

what a week for the NFL, as the action starts to get very interesting. Its time to separate the contenders from the pretenders. Time to start with a few notes from the league, before we get to our picks. How about the smashing debut of Adrian Peterson (in a Cardinals uniform) racking up 100 yards. At least he cannot say he signed up for 10 snaps this time. If there is a chance Andrew Luck is going to play in 2017? Now would be the time, but there has been (reportedly)  a setback due to his shoulder issues. Plus the season is just about half old, time flies when you are having fun. Its an understatement for the 49ers and Browns, they still have no wins on the season. They are not going 0-16, but at somepoint a win needs to happen. Finally, the NFL dropped the ball once again on both the national anthem, and the Ezekiel Elliot suspension. Come on NFL, please settle this malarkey already.  I feel bad for the Packers as they lost Aaron Rodgers (possibly for the season) for a while, and there super bowl hopes are dashed unless Brett Favre is available. So now for my picks as this season is not going my way, as i went 7-7 (in week 6) again. This season im 50-41, so i am way off my pace from this time last season. Now time for a great week as the week 7 picks start now:

Thursday Night:

Chiefs over Raiders

Early Sunday:

Rams over Cardinals (in London, England)

Jets over Dolphins

Vikings over Ravens

Buccaneers over Bills

Packers over Saints

Panthers over Bears

Titans over Browns

Jaguars over Colts

Late sunday:

Cowboys over 49ers

Broncos over Chargers

Steelers over Bengals

Giants over Seahawks

Sunday Night:

Patriots over Falcons (Super Bowl rematch)

Monday night:

Eagles over Redskins

There you have it my week 7 picks is up, and have a football winning weekend. My announcement is coming soon, so stay tuned

2017 NFL Weekly Picks (Week 4)

2017 NFL Weekly Picks (Week 4)

What a week for the NFL, being in the news for the all the wrong reasons. Enough talk about are they, or wont they kneel or stay out for the national anthem. See this was the result of the saga Colin Kaepernick has caused. Can we get on with more football, please!! I feel bad for the Detroit Lions, they had victory until a reversal destroy there hopes. Sorry Lions fans but i have to say this, i am glad that i am not a fan of your team. By the way, the Cincinnati Bengals should go 0-16 for the way there season is going. I am too embarrassed for them, how do you allowed the Packers to comeback and win. Now for my picks, it was so bad that i went under .500 (winning percentage). In week 3 i was 7-9, and for the season im 27-20. Now time for the week 4 picks and a bounce back week.

2017 Week 3 NFL Picks

2017 Week 3 NFL Picks

Well its looks like the mighty have fallen for some teams. Before we get to the picks, here are a few notes from the league. It time to clean house in Indy? With Andrew Luck yet to make his 2017 debut, Chuck Pagano is on the hot seat for sure. Its time for a win and they need to do it soon. The continue saga of one Colin Kaepernick, is he going to even get a chance to play this season? Finally, the NFL tried there darn hardest to make that Ezekiel Elliot suspension stick in the courts. However, they were denied (for now) but its not over. It will drag on into the next off season, remember Tom Brady’s suspension was eventually reinstated. Cowboys fans be aware that you won’t have your running back, if the NFL has its way. Last week was a smashing success on my picks as i went 12-4 in week 2, and for the season im 20-11. Now for the week 3 picks:

Thursday Night:

Rams over 49ers
