NBA Analyst Charles Barkley is RETIRING next season (After the 2024-2025 Season)

Well I really should have seen this coming from a country mile away. It looks like an end of an era is coming after next season. First came word about TNT is on the verge of losing there place in the NBA TV landscape (although it is not official at this time, there should be an update soon). Now come word there long time NBA analyst Charles Barkley is retiring from broadcasting, period. This comes after a 25 year run since his playing days ended in the late 1990’s. The greatest basketball player, and iconic sports figure from Leeds, Alabama. Great playing basketball in the early 1980’s for the University of Auburn. I didn’t see him play, until he got to the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers, later with the Phoenix Suns, and wrapping up his playing career with the Houston Rockets. Barkley never won a NBA championship, but he did have one of the greatest NBA careers of all time anyway. I view him as the Dan Marino of his era of not winning a championship. How ironic like Marino, Barkley did put up some great numbers in the NBA Stats department. I knew he was going to be a great broadcaster, and he never disappoint at all. They need to put Barkley in the Sports Broadcasting Hall Of Fame, Barkley would get my vote if I had one. Both TNT and NBA TV are going to miss him greatly when he goes away next year at this time. I hope TNT has a bunch of games next season to signal the end of a long and outstanding relationship with the NBA. Turner Sports starting doing NBA games back in 1984 when TBS was doing it, eventually TNT became a TV Channel back in 1988 and had gotten the TV rights to the NBA. TNT has been doing games ever since, Charles Barkley came on the scene back in 1999 and has been there ever since. The NBA is going to look very different after the 2025 NBA Playoffs. We NBA fans can’t wait, but before that day happens we should look back into the many moments of Charles Barkley. There may not be another analyst like him as long as I live. Kudos to you Charles Barkley, the greatest NBA player and analyst this world has ever seen.

This is regarding the news of Milwaukee Bucks Forward Patrick Beverly (Pat Bev) who was just handed a 4 game suspension for his off the court behavior. I am really surprised by this decision considering what I have read on this so far. The relations of players and fans are like a version of a Clint Eastwood movie of “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” plus and then some. I did not know he had a podcast, and I am not a subscriber to it. Although i will take a look at it, however an ESPN TV producer is not subscribed to it? Don’t know why, and maybe that producer has there reasons? Plus throwing a ball at a fan is not the way to go, even in frustration of a game ending series loss. The Milwaukee Bucks basically lost there way when they didn’t have there best player : Giannis Antetokounmpo. But it should not excuse his behavior or even the Bucks play in the series vs. Indiana Pacers. Mr. Beverly will need this off season to re-examine his life, on hopefully being a better person. By the way, Pat Bev really should be suspended more than 4 games in my opinion on the basis of his actions. Also, i think Patrick Beverly needs to learn how to promote a podcast on his own time, its not that hard. We have not heard the end of this story!
