My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 8, 2024 Season)

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 8, 2024 Season)

Well we have finally hit the home stretch of the Regular Season, and with the playoff picture is just about cleared. But first, the game of the year so far took place in Birmingham, Alabama as about 14, 000 fans packed into Protective Stadium to watch the Stallions play the Battlehawks. It was a tightly closely contested game with the Stallions pulling away in the end. Now could this be a potential championship game preview for mid June? There is still plenty of football left to play, so lets all stay tuned. The Arlington Renegades finally are in the win column, no thanks to the Memphis Showboats. The Showboats still have not won since opening weekend, and they along with the Renegades and Roughnecks have been eliminated from playoff contention. The D.C. Defenders (3-4) are barely alive for the playoffs, but realistically would need to win out to have any chance at this point. In the XFL Conference, both St. Louis and San Antonio (5-2 each) are tied for first, they still have to play each other in about 2 weeks for the top seed and hosting a playoff game. In the USFL Conference, the two teams have already been decided in Michigan (5-2) and Birmingham (7-0). The location of it could get settled soon, pending on this week’s action. The UFL and FOX Sports have announced that there will be games on Friday, starting next season. Which could be good for the league and FOX TV. Although I think FOX wants to fill there Friday Nights with a lot of sports programming throughout the calendar year. There has also been talk of potentially expansion in the UFL, however nothing been confirmed at least not yet. We will keep you posted on those details as soon as it develops. Last Week on my picks I went 3-1 in Week 7, so my overall record is now 19-9 on the season. So here is my Week 8 picks:

Saturday’s Action:

Michigan Panthers over Memphis Showboats (Game on FOX Sports)

Birmingham Stallions over Houston Roughnecks (Game on ESPN 2/Streaming on ESPN+)

Sunday’s Action:

St. Louis Battlehawks over D.C. Defenders (Game on ABC/Streaming on ESPN+)

San Antonio Brahmas over Arlington Renegades (Game on FOX Sports)

There you have it my picks are up and on the board, and lets hope for a winning weekend for this one. Y’all enjoy yourselves once and for all now!

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 7, 2024 Season)

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 7, 2024 Season)

Well UFL Football fans, the game that is finally here. What game am I referring to you ask? The Birmingham Stallions (6-0) returned home this weekend to play the much hyped St. Louis Battlehawks (5-1) at Protective Stadium. By the way, if you have not gotten your tickets yet, you better hurry up and get them. They are going fast and rightfully so with the return of one time Alabama crimson Tide quarterback AJ McCarron. So you can imagined it will be a tough and emotional game for all parties involved. How can you root for the Stallions, but your heart is with AJ McCarron. This should be an interesting one for sure, and this could be a potential championship game preview down the road. Here is the best part, they are both in 1st place in there respected conferences. Well we do have other games to get to for this coming weekend as teams start the drive to a potential postseason berth in the UFL. The Memphis-Arlington game doesn’t have the same hype, only because there is really not much to play for. The Renegades are still the only winless team in the UFL (0-6), but is there some hope? The Memphis Showboats are 1-5, and they have not won since opening weekend vs Houston. So in this game something has to give in this game, right? Here is a game that is not getting much attention as the Michigan Panthers plays the DC Defenders as they try to keep pace in the standings. They both need this game to help there cause for a possible playoff spot. The Houston Roughnecks (1-5) still with an outside shot of a playoff spot, as they take on the San Antonio Brahmas (4-2). I view this game as this could go either way, but for who that is? Onto my picks as last week I went 3-1 in Week 6, so my overall record for the season is 16-8. Now time for my latest version of the UFL and its picks:

Saturday’s Action:

Memphis Showboats over Arlington Renegades (Game on ESPN/Streaming on ESPN+)

Birmingham Stallions over St. Louis Battlehawks (Game on FOX Sports/ FOX Sports App)

Sunday’s Action:

Michigan Panthers over D.C. Defenders (Game on ESPN/Streaming on ESPN+)

San Antonio Brahmas over Houston Roughnecks (Game on ESPN/Streaming on ESPN+)

There you have it my picks are up on the board here, so enjoy the games folks. There is still plenty of UFL Football to come your way

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 6, 2024 Season)

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 6, 2024 Season)

Well UFL Football fans we have finally reached the halfway point of the Regular Season. So at this point can we separate the contenders from the pretenders? I believe we can in the USFL Conference at least, and not to sure about the XFL Conference as it could be a 3-team race by the end of the weekend. The Stallions are 5-0 as they destroyed the Houston Roughnecks 32-9 in Houston. So many fans out there is wondering, can the Stallions be stop in 2024? Meanwhile the Arlington Renegades (Last season’s XFL Champions) has not even sniff a victory yet in 2024 as they are 0-5. At this point they just want to get a win at some point. Pretty good battle going on in the XFL Conference standings between the Battlehawks and the Brahmas. They are both 4-1 so far on the season, but they still have to play one more time this season as who will win the regular season title in the XFL Conference. St Louis did win the earlier meeting back in Week 3, however it isn’t over till the fat lady sings for sure. Both Memphis (1-4) and DC (2-3), have pretty important games this weekend as they keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Now as for my picks as I went 4-0 again for the 2nd time this season. My record is now at 13-7 after 5 weeks of play. Now it is time for the week 6 picks in the UFL:

Saturday’s Action:

Birmingham Stallions over Memphis Showboats (Game on ABC/Streamed on ESPN+)

St. Louis Battlehawks over Houston Roughnecks (Game on FOX Sports)

Sunday’s Action:

Michigan Panthers over Arlington Renegades (Game on FOX Sports)

San Antonio Brahmas over D.C. Defenders (Game on FOX Sports)

There you have it my picks are up and on the board here. So enjoy the games football fans and we will be back soon!

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 5, 2024 Season)

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 5, 2024 Season)

Well UFL Football fans, we have reach the halfway point of the regular season. So far we still have the same records as last week. Unfortunately, the Birmingham Stallions will be without there inspirational leader in Scooby Wright as he suffered a Neck injury. Which Wright had to retire from professional football unexpectedly. This injury occurs just before the hour long delay due to weather concerns in the Birmingham area. The Stallions would eventually get the victory vs. D.C. Defenders, but it was really a close shave of a game. Let’s hope the Stallions (4-0 on the season) re focus on the goal in hand (Drive for a Three-Peat Championship). They have upcoming games vs both the Houston Roughnecks and Memphis Showboats on the road. Last season’s XFL Champion the Arlington Renegades are 0-4, and could possibly go 0 for the season if they don’t turn it around, and quickly. It won’t be easy, but I think they will get a win at somepoint this season. On my picks last week, I went 2-2 last week and for the season I am now 9-7 on the 2024 season. Now for my week 5 picks:

Saturday’s Action:

San Antonio Brahmas over Arlington Renegades (Game on FOX Regional)

Birmingham Stallions over Houston Roughnecks (Game on FOX Regional)

Sunday’s Action:

St. Louis Battlehawks over D.C. Defenders (Game on ESPN/Streamed on ESPN+)

Michigan Panthers over Memphis Showboats (Game on FOX)

There you have it my picks are up and hope you enjoy the games this weekend!

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 4, 2024 Season)

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 4, 2024 Season)

Well in the UFL so far, there is only just 1 undefeated team left, the Birmingham Stallions have giddy up all the way to 3-0 on the young season. Even those the attendance was only 12,000 plus, but it was very loud overall the entire game. The Stallions are at home again this week vs the D.C. Defenders. Let’s hope the Stallions will take this team seriously as the Defenders are a very good team. The Memphis Showboats definitely struggles in all phases of the game, and it showed all game long. They are still reeling from last season’s brutal loss, and eventual sweep from the Stallions. The Showboats will have one more opportunity to play the Stallions in Memphis, that they hope to look forward to. Meanwhile the San Antonio Brahmas was surprised and shocked when the Battlehawks beat them soundly. Hopefully they recover from it, and quickly as they have a tough matchup with the Michigan Panthers this week. Finally we will have the only donut bowl game of the year, and it is not what you think folks! Sure I am going to have some donuts at some point Sunday. I am talking about two teams that have yet to post a victory in the standings. Both the Arlington Renegades and the Houston Roughnecks are 0-3 each. So somebody has to get a victory, right? Scoring is not an issue with these teams, it is the other aspects of the game that are leading to eventual losses at the end of the game. By the way, nice job by the UFL having regional coverage on a Saturday Night no less with 2 games on FOX TV. Who thought that was a great idea, come on and do better. Well as for my picks last week, how about I went 4-0 in Week 3. So on the season I am 7-5 heading into the fourth week. Now it is time for my picks:

Saturday’s Action:

St. Louis Battlehawks over Memphis Showboats (Game on ABC/ Streamed on ESPN+)

Birmingham Stallions over D.C. Defenders (Game on FOX TV/Regional Coverage)

Michigan Panthers over San Antonio Brahmas (Game on FOX TV/Regional Coverage)

Sunday’s Action:

Arlington Renegades over Houston Roughnecks (Game on Fox Sports 1) Who wins there 1st?

There you have it, my picks are up as we are almost at the midway point of the season. So it is now time to step up and get it going if you want to make the postseason. Enjoy the games folks!!

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 3, 2024 Season)

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 3, 2024 Season)

Well we are two weeks in and so far there is not a lot of separation among the 8 teams. We have 2 undefeated teams at 2-0 (Birmingham Stallions and San Antonio Brahmas), there are 6 teams at 1-1 (St. Louis Battlehawks, D.C. Defenders, Memphis Showboats, and Michigan Panthers). Then we have the ones that have yet to taste the sweet of victory (Houston Roughnecks and Arlington Renegades are both 0-2). So far how would you rate the play of the UFL up to this point? I would rate it okay so far, but there is plenty of football left to be played. The Birmingham Stallions have yet to have a home game this season. Well good news Stallions fans, your team is home this weekend and the tickets are only $10 for this game. See they want the place to be packed for this game, and there are plenty of tickets available. As for my UFL picks for the 2024 season, I went 2-2 last week and overall I am 3-5 so I have plenty of work to do. So here is my Week 3 UFL picks:

Saturday’s Action:

D.C. Defenders over Arlington Renegades (Game on ESPN/Streamed on ESPN+)

Birmingham Stallions over Memphis Showboats (Game on FOX Sports)

Sunday’s Action:

Michigan Panthers over Houston Roughnecks (Game on ABC/Streamed on ESPN+)

St Louis Battlehawks over San Antonio Brahmas (Game on ABC/Streamed on ESPN+)

*Don’t forget if you can’t see the game its on radio as well on both ESPN Xtra and FOX Sports Radio via Sirius XM Radio

There you have it my latest installment of the UFL and its picks are now up. I will see you at the game and have a good one!

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 2, 2024 Season)

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 2, 2024 Season)

Well opening week was interesting, but not that entertaining. There was not a lot of scoring, but I think it will come in due time. We just need a little patience along the way. I know the TV ratings was not as spectacular as the NCAA Tournament. However, its not there fault at all. It is just the way the cookie crumbles. The Birmingham Stallions continue to show the reason they are the champs (of the USFL), as they handled the Renegades of Arlington with authority in there house. Other than the San Antonio Brahmas, did anyone else in the XFL conference do anything good? The answer to that question is no, and they will need to bounce back and in a hurry. As for my picks, I didn’t do so well as I only went 1-3 in the opening week. So here is my Week 2 picks:

Saturday’s Action:

San Antonio Brahmas over Memphis Showboats (Game on ESPN/Streamed on ESPN+)

St. Louis Battlehawks over Arlington Renegades (Game on ABC/Streamed on ESPN+)

Sunday’s Action:

Birmingham Stallions over Michigan Panthers (Game on ESPN/Streamed on ESPN+)

Houston Roughnecks over D.C. Defenders (Game on FOX/FOX Sports App)

Don’t forget these games can be listened to throughout the season on Sirius XM Radio by either ESPN Xtra and/or FOX SPORTS RADIO.

There you have it my picks are up and lets hope for a better weekend of play. Enjoy the games folks!

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 1, 2024 Season)

My UFL Today’s Picks (Week 1, 2024 Season)

Well it is finally here, the UFL is here and it starts in earnest. The United Football League (formerly the USFL and XFL leagues) merged late in 2023 in order to create possibly a better product then what we were used to. I am excited for the start of this and it only happens days from now. This league is split into 2 conferences (USFL Conference with Birmingham Stallions, Michigan Panthers, Memphis Showboats, and Houston Roughnecks) (XFL Conference with San Antonio Brahmas, Arlington Renegades, St. Louis Battlehawks, and D.C. Defenders) that will battle for the UFL trophy. The Championship game will take place in June in St. Louis. The TV coverage this season will look different as NBC Sports has bowed out of this stanza. It will be ESPN, FOX Sports, Fox Sports 1, and even ABC will do some games this season. So with that all said here is my picks on the opening weekend.

Saturday’s Action:

Birmingham Stallions over Arlington Renegades (Game on FOX)

St. Louis Battlehawks over Michigan Panthers (Game on FOX)

Sunday’s Action:

D.C. Defenders over San Antonio Brahmas (Game on ESPN)

Houston Roughnecks over Memphis Showboats (Game on ESPN)

There you have it, and it is now time to get this football season started once and for all. We will have coverage of the UFL all season here. All the way to the Championship game in June.

My Off The Field Commentary

My Off The Field Commentary

The USFL-XFL merger has finally been announced and I just wonder one thing: What took so long in getting this done. I had to hold off for months on what I wanted to say about it. Now, it will finally happen as they announced the merger and the teams that will be on display. Although I was surprised on what teams made it and what teams did not make it. As for the teams that did not make it, here is the following: From the XFL. Las Vegas Vipers, Seattle SeaDragons, Orlando Guardians and from the USFL: Houston Gamblers, New Orleans Breakers, Philadelphia Stars, New Jersey Generals, and Pittsburgh Maulers (last season’s runner up in the USFL Championship game). I am shocked that New Orleans Breakers got left off in spite of competing with the Birmingham Stallions for the past 2 seasons. The United Football League (UFL) is what the name if this new league will start on March 30. The broadcast partners are ESPN, ABC, FOX, and Fox Sports 1 (FS1) will split the broadcast duties and the schedule will be on display at somepoint before training camp arrives. The divisions will be conferences instead, so there will be an XFL conference (teams are Arlington Renegades, St. Louis Battlehawks, D.C. Defenders, and the San Antonio Brahmas) and an USFL conference (teams are the Birmingham Stallions, Memphis Showboats, Michigan Panthers, and Houston Roughnecks). Now the Roughnecks was off the re-brand from the Gamblers, and I do not know the story behind it but it was originally going to be the Gamblers until a couple of weeks ago. Even though the schedule has not been released yet, they did leak the 1st ever game for the UFL. The matchup will take place in Arlington, Texas as the XFL champion Arlington Renegades take on the back to back USFL champion Birmingham Stallions. There is already hype building up for this matchup. I might possibly go if things and events fall into place. We will definitely have more on this league coming soon. Training camp for the UFL will take place sometime in February. They have a dispersal draft in mid January, for teams whose players are trying to get on these rosters of the current 8 teams. Well we will see how long this league lasts, however lets enjoy it for the time being. We thank both the XFL and USFL for giving up some good football over the last few years.
